Video production cost in Saudi Arabia

Plan video production cost in Saudi Arabia from scope, not from a list. Length, direction, Khaleeji voice, versions and shoot days move it most. Compare quotes on the same basis, and check whether each one includes the 15% VAT.

Video production cost in Saudi Arabia is hard to read because most published figures come from sellers, and each uses different assumptions. Several Saudi companies publish ranges, such as Black Swan Media, Filmology and Insight Studios. They are worth reading, but check what each range covers, because some include VAT and some do not. This guide helps you plan your own number in SAR.

Planning ranges in SAR

These come from our budget calculator, and each one states its assumptions. We show USD beside SAR. The riyal is pegged at 3.75 to the dollar, so the two convert cleanly, and quotes in either are easy to compare.

  • A 30-second social ad. A designed brand world, library music: SAR 2,500 to 4,000 (USD 600 to 1,000) Calculator estimate, before VAT
  • A 30-second AI commercial. Brand world, AI voice, library music: SAR 5,500 to 9,000 (USD 1,500 to 2,400) Calculator estimate, before VAT
  • A 60-second corporate explainer. AI voice, medium motion graphics, three charts, library music: SAR 8,000 to 13,000 (USD 2,100 to 3,500) Calculator estimate, before VAT
  • A 60-second brand film with a half-day shoot. Cinematic direction, human voice, lip-sync, original music, script: SAR 14,500 to 23,500 (USD 3,900 to 6,300) Calculator estimate, before VAT

What moves video production cost in Saudi Arabia

Khaleeji voice. A generic Arabic voice is the fastest way to lose a Saudi viewer. Khaleeji itself is not one sound, and Najdi and Hijazi differ. Decide who the film speaks to before the script is written. A human voice artist adds a line to the budget. So does a native reviewer, and that one is worth paying for.

Arabic and English versions. Many Saudi brands need both. Plan the second language at the start. Adding it later means new timing, new on-screen text and sometimes a new edit.

Shoot days. Saudi crew budgets depend on location, season and how far the team travels. Summer heat shapes where and when you can film outdoors. A city location and a remote desert one carry very different logistics. Each shoot day adds crew and equipment, and anything filmed may need location or drone permits, so ask who secures them. A fully generated film has no location to permit.

Culture and faith review. Dress, prayer, family and food moments need a careful eye. Build a review into the budget and the schedule, because catching a problem in the final cut costs far more than catching it at the script.

Gulf roll-out. If the film will also run in other Gulf markets, say so now. A shared world with new voices and text usually costs less than separate films.

Approvals. Large Saudi organisations often have several levels of sign-off. Each extra round has a cost. Name the approvers before the work starts, and bring them in at style frames, not at the final cut.

VAT and comparing Saudi quotes

Saudi Arabia's standard VAT rate is 15%. That source is secondary, so have your accountant confirm the rate and how it applies to you. Our calculator shows every range before VAT.

This small detail causes real confusion. Some published Saudi figures already include VAT. Others do not. A figure with VAT in it and a figure without can look like two different market levels while being the same.

Before you compare any two Saudi quotes, ask for these points in writing:

  • Is the figure before or after VAT?
  • Does the supplier issue a tax invoice your finance team can accept?
  • If the supplier bills from outside the Kingdom, how do VAT and any withholding tax apply? Your finance team should answer this one, not the seller.
  • Does the scope include permits, and any licence the project needs?

Some Saudi production companies state their media regulator licence on their websites. If your project or your procurement team needs that, ask for it directly.

Seasonal timing in the Saudi calendar

Timing changes the budget more than most teams expect, because a rush was the largest single swing in our worked examples. The Saudi calendar has fixed pressure points.

  • Ramadan. In 2027, it is expected to begin in early February, subject to moon sighting. Our Ramadan campaign video timeline counts back from the first night.
  • Founding Day, 22 February. In 2027, this falls inside the expected dates of Ramadan. A brand planning both should plan them together, and the tone has to suit both.
  • National Day, 23 September. Everyone briefs at once. Summer leave can slow approvals, so start before it.
  • White Friday and year-end. Short retail windows reward versions planned in advance.

Series cost less per film when planned as a series. If you know you need several seasonal films in a year, tell your supplier at the first brief. Shared characters and a shared world can carry across them.

AI, hybrid or crew in Saudi Arabia

AI video cost in Saudi Arabia is not always below crew cost. Published crew figures for simple work overlap AI ranges at the low end. If you need one location and a person talking, a good local crew may be the right and sensible choice.

AI tends to earn its place when the film needs places that cannot be filmed, such as an off-plan district or a historic scene. It also helps when a large organisation wants to see an idea before funding it, or when you need many versions across Saudi regions and other Gulf markets.

A crew tends to earn its place for leaders, employees and customers speaking on camera, exact product close-ups, and live events.

Hybrid often fits corporate video. Film the chief executive and generate the future the chief executive is describing. Corporate video cost in Saudi Arabia usually rises with shoot days, so limit filming to what must be real. A brief that gets comparable Saudi quotes

Send every supplier the same page, and ask them to answer line by line.

  1. Purpose and audience. Which Saudi audience, in which cities or regions?
  2. Language. Saudi dialect, Khaleeji, formal Arabic, English, or a mix?
  3. Film type and length. Include the cut-downs you need.
  4. Scenes. Rough count, or the pace you want.
  5. Real elements. People, products and sites that must appear as they are.
  6. Channels. TV, cinema, social or event screens, and the formats each one needs.
  7. Season and live date. Name the date, not "soon".
  8. Approvers. Who signs, and at which stages?
  9. Response format. Figures in SAR, before VAT, with VAT shown on its own line, valid until a stated date.

The last line is what makes the replies comparable. Without it, you are comparing guesses.

Questions

Video production cost in Saudi Arabia

Is video production cost higher for brands in Riyadh than elsewhere in the Kingdom?

We have seen no independent data that settles this. For an AI film, location matters little. For a shoot, travel, venue and crew availability matter more than the city name.

Should we ask for quotes in SAR or USD?

Either works, because of the peg. Ask for SAR if your budget is approved in SAR, and have VAT shown separately.
